Antique Thomas Bland Sideplate Side by Side, 12 Ga 30.25" Damascus Barrels
Established in London during the golden era of British gunmaking, Thomas Bland & Sons built an enduring reputation for crafting dependable, beautifully balanced shotguns intended for versatile use. Crafted in 1887, this 12-gauge side-by-side exemplifies the maker's refined late-Victorian design with traditional double triggers and elegant sideplate styling.
This example remains in very good antique condition, showcasing delicate scroll engraving across the receiver and fences alongside striking 30 ¼-inch Damascus barrels with the maker's West Strand London address clearly legible on the rib. The varnished English walnut straight-hand stock displays crisp checkering, light surface handling marks consistent with its era, and a checkered wooden butt plate providing a 14 ¼-inch length of pull.
Chambered for 2 ½-inch shells with fixed Modified and Full constrictions, the gun delivers a smooth break action, an automatic safety, and positive extraction.
