Jackson .410 SXS Hammer gun 27" Barrels
The lineage of John Low Jackson of Nottingham represents the pinnacle of nineteenth-century provincial English gunmaking, with a history of craftsmanship dating back to 1821. Operating from his historic premises at 7 Church Gate, Jackson was renowned for producing bespoke firearms that combined functional reliability with the graceful lines of the Victorian era.
This 1888-manufactured example is a rare .410 gauge side-by-side featuring an elegant Prince of Wales stock carved from English walnut and a manual safety. While it remains a graceful antique survivor, the forend has had a repair and will require further attention from a specialist to ensure its long-term stability and preservation.
The 27 ¼" barrels are bored with 2 ½" chambers and fixed Improved Cylinder & Modified chokes, balanced by a solid tapered rib measuring 7 7/10 mm to 6 7/10 mm. Featuring rebounding hammers and extractors with a 14 ¼" length of pull, this diminutive field gun weighs a mere 4 lbs 2 4/5 oz and retains a mechanical lockup that is notably tight.
