Classic Midland Company Boxlock Side by Side, 12 Ga, 28" Barrels
The Midland Gun Company of Birmingham has long been respected for producing robust and reliable British boxlocks that exemplify the pragmatic elegance of mid-century gunmaking. This 12-gauge side-by-side represents a classic era of United Kingdom manufacturing, designed for balance and enduring performance in the field.
This 1952 example is presented in fabulous condition, featuring highly appealing dark wood shaped into a comfortable Prince of Wales stock with a slight right-hand cast. The receiver retains approximately 25% of its original color-hardening and is adorned with charmingly simple scroll engraving, while the 28-inch barrels show 85% of their original blueing.
Configured with 2 ¾-inch chambers and fixed chokes, this unit utilizes extractors and a solid 9mm to 6 ½mm tapered rib ending in a silver bead sight for a traditional sight picture. The double-trigger mechanism remains precise and the action locks up tight, ensuring this vintage piece is ready for many more seasons of service in the upland tradition.
